Scarpa is a family-owned Piedmont producer, founded in 1900 and passed through the Scarpa, Pesce, Castino, and Trinchero families. Based between Monferrato and the Langhe, it farms vineyards around Castel Rocchero and Acqui Terme, with holdings in notable Barolo and Barbaresco crus including Monvigliero, Roncaglie, and Canova. The winery is known for classic Piedmont wines from native grapes, shaped by slow, expressive vinification, traditional methods, and a strong focus on elegance, territorial identity, and longevity. Mario Pesce helped modernize the estate in the 1960s and 1970s, while Silvio Trinchero has led the cellar since 2007. Scarpa’s historic cellars in Nizza Monferrato, with their collection of older vintages, underline the estate’s long commitment to age-worthy wines.
