Gut Hermannsberg is a historic Riesling estate in Niederhausen in the Nahe, founded in 1902 as the Royal Prussian Domain. Since the Reidel family’s takeover in 2009, owners and managing directors including Jens and Jasper Reidel, Achim Kirchner, and winemaker Karsten Peter have reinterpreted its heritage with a focus on terroir-driven dry white wines. The estate is known for seven VDP.GROSSE LAGEN sites, including monopoles such as Hermannsberg and In der Rossel, with steep volcanic and slate-rich vineyards central to the wines’ character. In the cellar, the approach emphasizes minimal intervention, wild fermentations, avoiding fining, and giving the wines time to develop. Sustainability is presented as a core commitment, with vineyard work centered on compost, biotechnical plant protection, and preserving the vineyard ecosystem for future generations.
