Drei Donà Tenuta La Palazza is a family-owned estate in Massa di Vecchiazzano, Forlì, within the Predappio appellation, and has belonged to the family since 1923. Count Claudio Drei Donà left his legal career in the 1980s to pursue ambitious, internationally minded wines from Romagna; the estate is now run by Claudio and his children Ida and Enrico. Its vineyards, largely planted to Sangiovese, are farmed according to organic and biodynamic principles, with conversion to biodynamics begun in 2020 and solar energy used throughout the estate. Winemaking follows a Bordeaux-inspired philosophy of respect for fruit and terroir: hand-harvested grapes, indigenous yeasts, natural sedimentation, separate vineyard vinification, long macerations, and slow maturation in wood and terracotta amphorae. Graf Noir is the estate’s rare, numbered Sangiovese selection, made in extremely limited quantities.
