De Toren is a boutique producer in the Polkadraai Hills of Stellenbosch, founded in 1991 by Emil and Sonette den Dulk. The estate is known for small-batch, Bordeaux-focused winemaking, with hand-harvested fruit, basket transport, open-top fermentation, gravity-flow handling, and ageing in French oak. In the vineyard, De Toren combines precision viticulture such as infrared aerial imaging with organic practices begun in 2016. It holds Integrated Production of Wines (IPW) certification, is listed as vegan-friendly, and was in transition to Ecocert organic certification as of 2019. Winemaking has been associated with Charles Williams, Albie Koch, and Martin Fourie.
