Clos Apalta is the Lapostolle family’s flagship estate in Chile’s Apalta Valley, within Colchagua. Founded in 1994, it is owned by the Marnier-Lapostolle family, in partnership with Don José Rabat Gorchs for the Apalta site. The vineyards are farmed biodynamically and supplied by natural groundwater, reflecting a strong sustainability focus. The estate is known for old-vine varieties, including centenarian pre-phylloxera vines, with a particular emphasis on Bordeaux varieties and Carmenère, which suits Apalta’s granite and clay soils. Its gravity-fed, six-level winery is designed for gentle handling of the wines. Andrea Leon is the lead winemaker.
