Château Les Carmes Haut-Brion

France

Château Les Carmes Haut-Brion is a historic, small estate in Pessac-Léognan, Bordeaux, uniquely located within the city of Bordeaux. Owned by Patrice Pichet since 2010, it is managed by winemaker Guillaume Pouthier with consultant Stéphane Derenoncourt. The estate practices organic, sustainable viticulture with hand-harvesting and natural soil management. The vineyard, with a high proportion of Cabernet Franc, is planted on gravel, clay, and sand soils. Winemaking emphasizes gentle, parcel-specific techniques, including whole-berry fermentation and aging in oak. A striking, modern winery designed by Philippe Starck reflects a commitment to blending architectural innovation with traditional craftsmanship.
