Casa La Rad is a Rioja estate in the Ocón Valley, within a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Acquired by a French family in 2014, it combines vineyards with ancient forest, olive groves and cereal fields in an ecosystem-based approach to farming. The estate is FAIR’N GREEN certified and emphasizes organic cultivation, biodiversity and the preservation of its natural surroundings—an approach promoted by Alicia Rojas, who managed the vineyard from 1982. Head winemaker Bárbara Palacios Montenegro makes site-focused wines using modern technology alongside traditional methods and oak ageing. The estate’s history includes an association with the Marquises of Legarda, while Laurent Grumel has served as director general since 2023.
