Vignaioli del Morellino di Scansano

Italy

Founded in 1972 in Scansano, Tuscany, Cantina Vignaioli del Morellino di Scansano is a cooperative owned by local member growers. Its vineyards lie on the hills of the Maremma, where the focus is on Sangiovese and Morellino di Scansano DOCG, alongside Vermentino and other regional varieties. The cooperative has chosen a quality-led approach, with members involved directly in vineyard work and harvest decisions. Vineyards are organically managed, with dry farming, hand harvesting, and varied sandy, stony, clay, and tufa soils contributing to the wines’ regional character. Sustainability is central to the winery’s work, including renewable energy, photovoltaic panels, carbon-footprint monitoring, VIVA certification, and vineyard technologies such as drones and IoT sensors. Its wines aim to express the traditions and identity of the Maremma.
