TerraMater is a family-owned Chilean winery in Isla de Maipo, founded in 1996 by sisters Gilda, Edda, and Antonieta Canepa, continuing a family tradition of wine and olive-oil production dating to the 1930s. Its Maipo vineyards include old vines, alongside olive groves and apple orchards, and the estate also produces extra virgin olive oil from historic Curicó plantings. The winery combines conventional viticulture with vegan-certified wines and extensive environmental measures, including composting, water treatment, glass recycling, reduced glass use, and integrated pest management. Winemaking involves Juan Carlos Castro, Stefano Gandolini, and Alfredo Schiappacasse, with the family tradition continued by the next generation. TerraMater’s wines are presented as premium, concentrated expressions of its old vineyards, complemented by a Mediterranean-focused visitor experience.
