Tenuta Secolo IX is a 22-hectare estate between Castiglione a Casauria and Tocco da Casauria, beneath Monte Morrone in Abruzzo. Owned and operated by Quarantasei SRL Cantina, it was founded in 2006, with the Tenuta Secolo IX brand launched in 2018. Clay-limestone soils, mountain and sea breezes, and pronounced day-night temperature variation shape the vineyards. The estate practices integrated, low-impact farming, with Guyot-trained vines and hand harvesting; white grapes are picked at night. Its winemaking emphasizes respect for the fruit, using physical cellar techniques to reduce sulfite use. A particular focus is the revival of Moscato di Castiglione, an ancient local biotype linked to the nearby Abbey of San Clemente a Casauria, alongside red wines and long-aged Passito. The estate also cultivates 650 olive trees, including ancient native varieties.
