Steve Bird Wines is a modest, family-owned and operated producer on the Omaka Valley hillside in Marlborough, founded and led by winemaker Steve Bird. With more than 30 years’ winemaking experience, Steve crafts hand-selected parcels to express the character of their vineyard locations, including small-batch Pinot Noir matured in French oak foudres. The winery is Māori-owned, affiliated with Ngāti Awa, and guided by kaitiakitanga (guardianship of the land) and manaakitanga (generosity toward the land and each other). It is 100% Sustainable certified and accredited by Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand, with an ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility. The Manu range reflects these connections through Māori kite and tukutuku designs, while the wines emphasize Marlborough’s distinctive natural character.
