Marchesi di Gresy

Italy

Marchesi di Grésy is a family-owned estate in Piedmont, founded in 1973 and managed by Alberto di Grésy with family members Alessandro and Ludovica involved. The estate comprises four properties in the Langhe and Monferrato, totaling about 45 hectares of vineyards. Its flagship is the Martinenga monopole, a 12-hectare south-facing amphitheater in the Barbaresco DOCG, owned by the family since 1797. Annual production is around 15,000–20,000 bottles of Barbaresco. Vines are cultivated organically, with over 35 years of organic farming, though no formal certifications are listed. Sustainability practices include a buried barrel cellar to reduce soil erosion, photovoltaic panels supplying all winery electricity, an aromatic garden to boost biodiversity, and an experimental vineyard for Nebbiolo clonal selection. Winemaker Matteo Sasso oversees low-intervention vinification and extended oak aging.
