Producer

Karim Vionnet

France

Karim Vionnet is an independent Beaujolais producer and winemaker working mainly around Quincié, Beaujeu and Lantignié. Mentored by natural wine pioneers Guy Breton and Marcel Lapierre, he farms chemical-free vineyards by hand, with biodynamic and organic practices, no plowing, and no pesticides or other plant-protection chemicals. Some sources describe the domaine as certified organic and biodynamic, while others note that it is not certified; in either case, the approach is entirely natural. In the cellar, Vionnet follows a low-intervention style with native-yeast fermentations, very low sulphur, and wines bottled unfined, unfiltered, and vegan-friendly. He is also sometimes described as a négociant overseeing additional organic parcels.
