Joan Rubió is a small, family-owned estate based at Cal Tiques in the Penedès, where Joan and his wife Angels tend inherited vineyards and manage the cellar. The vineyards are certified organic and biodynamic by the Catalan organic council (CCPAE) since 2009, with hand-harvested native varieties. After many years as technical director at Recaredo, Joan returned to his ancestral land and now serves as the estate’s sole winemaker. His natural-wine approach centres on spontaneous fermentation, free-run juice, no additives, fining or filtration, and only minimal sulphur, resulting in low-intervention wines made entirely under the family’s care.
