Il Farneto is a family-owned, family-run estate in the hills between Modena and Reggio Emilia, founded by Marco Bertoni in the mid-1990s. Working as an agricultural collective, the estate has been certified biodynamic since 2003 and also follows organic principles, with hand-worked vineyards, mixed farming with wheat and donkeys, and no synthetic inputs noted. In the cellar, Marco Bertoni works with Tommaso Turci and Flavio Restani, making still and sparkling natural wines with native yeasts, minimal added sulphur, and in some cases unfined, unfiltered wines made by ancestral method. The focus is on traditional, low-intervention winemaking rooted in the Emilia-Romagna hills.
