Giant Steps

Australia

Giant Steps is a Yarra Valley producer in Victoria, founded in 1997 by Phil Sexton and owned by Jackson Family Wines since 2021, with Sexton remaining involved in leadership. The estate works with six vineyard sites across the Yarra Valley, plus one in Tasmania’s Coal River Valley, focusing particularly on cool-climate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Winemaking is led by Melanie Chester, alongside long-time winemaker Steve Flamsteed, with an emphasis on transparent, site-driven wines. Its gravity-flow, minimal-intervention approach is designed to preserve vineyard character, producing wines noted for elegance, balance, texture, purity, and finesse. No formal organic, biodynamic, or sustainability certifications are mentioned.
