Covila is a cooperative winery in Lapuebla de Labarca, Rioja Alavesa, founded in 1989 by local growers. Its members work with family-owned vineyards rooted in the region, emphasizing hands-on farming, inherited knowledge, environmental care, and responsibility to their community. The vineyards lie in dry, sunny conditions on calcareous, poor soils near the Ebro River and protected by the Sierra de Cantabria. Covila makes DOCa Rioja wines from its own grapes, using temperature-controlled stainless-steel fermentation and ageing in American and French oak. The cooperative’s collective spirit, passion for the land, and commitment to quality are central to its identity, with ISO 9001 and BRC certifications supporting its operations.
