Ceira is a family-owned producer in Guiães, in the Douro’s Cima Corgo sub-region, run by Ricardo Moura and Margarida Couto, who also oversee the winemaking. Its vineyards are spread across several Alto Douro sites linked by the Ceira River, with varied altitudes, exposures, and schist, granite, and transitional soils. Each parcel is treated individually to express its terroir and traditional Douro varieties, including cercial, gouveio, códega do larinho, touriga nacional, and tinta roriz. The wines combine traditional methods—such as fermentation and foot treading in granite lagares—with modern enological techniques, producing reds, whites, rosés, and reservas that reflect the region’s character. The Fornos parcel, once nearly abandoned, was restructured with terraces and replanted predominantly with white grapes.
