Cascina La Barbatella is a small, family-owned and operated estate in Piedmont, founded in 1982 by Angelo Sonvico and Giuliano Noè, who continue to run the winery. Its vineyards include the Sonvico and Ruanera parcels, planted between 1987 and 1995. The estate is a member of the Association of Producers of Nizza DOCG and is noted for rigorous, passionate work in both vineyard and cellar. Barbera and Cabernet Sauvignon are vinified separately, with fermentation in stainless steel and aging in neutral French oak. Production remains modest, allowing a focused, artisanal approach.
