Matsu is a Vintae-owned project in Spain’s D.O. Toro, working with small local growers to preserve centenary, often ungrafted Tinta de Toro vineyards. Overseen by Raúl Acha, its viticulture follows traditional, low-intervention principles, with manual harvesting, minimal chemical use, and organic and biodynamic practices without cited formal certification. Sandy, granitic soils and Toro’s climate support practically artisanal cultivation, while collaboration with local families helps prevent old vineyards from being abandoned amid rural depopulation. Matsu’s wines pay tribute to generations of viticulturists and express the power and personality of Toro alongside modern smoothness, finesse, aromatic intensity, and discreet elegance.
