AA Badenhorst Family Wines is a family-run producer based at Kalmoesfontein on the Paardeberg in Swartland, Western Cape, led by cousins Adi and Hein Badenhorst, with Adi as winemaker. The estate is rooted in old bush-vine vineyards, including heritage sites planted in the 1950s and 1960s, and is a member of The Old Vine Project. Farming is organic, biodynamic and biological in approach, with cover crops, compost, natural preparations and lunar-calendar timing. In the cellar, the focus is traditional, minimal-intervention winemaking: whole-bunch handling, wild-yeast fermentations, ageing in old casks, concrete and foudre, and only sulphur added. The style emphasizes site expression and old-vine character, from family blends to single-vineyard wines.
