Robert Weil

Germany

Founded in 1875 in Kiedrich, Robert Weil is one of the Rheingau's largest Riesling estates, with about 90 hectares of vineyards dedicated exclusively to Riesling. The estate is family-run by fourth-generation Wilhelm Weil, who also serves as chief winemaker, and is co-owned with Japan's Suntory group. Vineyards are farmed sustainably with certified organic practices, avoiding pesticides and herbicides. The focus is on steep, stony hillside sites like the Grand Cru Gräfenberg, with hand-harvesting, selective picking, and fermentation in both stainless steel and traditional large barrels. The winery is noted for producing the full spectrum of Riesling styles, from dry estate wines to noble sweet Prädikat wines, and has achieved a unique global record of harvesting Trockenbeerenauslese every year since 1989.
