Renzo Castella is a family-owned estate in Diano d’Alba, Piedmont, in the Langhe just outside Barolo. Founded in the first half of the 20th century by Renzo’s grandfather Severino and continued by his father Simone, the winery has been led by Renzo since 2001 after his oenological studies. He is both owner and winemaker, producing Dolcetto, Barbera, Nebbiolo and Riesling. The vineyards are certified organic and farmed without pesticides or herbicides, with careful vineyard work rooted in a sustainable approach. Wines are fermented in stainless steel and aged in large neutral oak barrels, a straightforward cellar style that aims to preserve purity of fruit. The estate remains low-key and focused on farming and winemaking.
