Jean-Claude Lapalu

France

Jean-Claude Lapalu is an owner-operator in Beaujolais who took over his family domaine in 1982 and began releasing wines under his own name in 1996. Working old-vine Gamay from Brouilly and nearby villages, he farms organically with strict biodynamic practices. The estate is Ecocert-certified organic and is pursuing Biodyvin biodynamic certification. His vineyards are rooted in sandy, shallow topsoil over granite, with many vines between 50 and 100 years old. Lapalu is known for micro-parcel, natural wines made without added yeast, sugar, or sulfites, with only minimal sulfur use.
