Gemtree Vineyards is a boutique, small-batch producer in McLaren Vale, South Australia, now under the guardianship of the Randall Wine Group. Its estate vineyards are certified organic and biodynamic, with practices focused on healthy soils, biodiversity and sustainability, including recycled water, solar panels and wetland restoration. The family business has roots in the 1980s, with the Brown family later committing to organic and biodynamic farming; the vineyards achieved full organic certification in 2011. Winemaker Paul Carpenter brings more than two decades of hands-on experience and a particular enthusiasm for Grenache. Gemtree’s limited-release and experimental wines are made from small parcels of organic and biodynamic fruit, emphasizing flavour, purity and freedom from convention.
