Domaine Bertrand Stehelin

France

Domaine Bertrand Stehelin is Bertrand Stehelin’s small, family-run label in Gigondas in the southern Rhône. From a family of vignerons spanning five generations, Bertrand founded his own domaine in 2004 while continuing to work alongside his parents at Paillière et Pied-Gû. His vineyards lie around the Dentelles de Montmirail, with plots on clay-limestone, alluvial terraces and scree, as well as sandy slopes in Sablet and rolled pebbles with red clay in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The mature vines include 70–90-year-old plantings in Gigondas and 40–60-year-old vines in Sablet. Wines are aged for 24 months in large oak foudres, producing structured, deeply coloured reds characteristic of Gigondas.
