Domaine Bertrand

France

Domaine Bertrand is a family estate in Barizey, in Burgundy’s Côte Chalonnaise, established in 1911 and now run by Catarina and Raphaël Bertrand. Working across vineyards in Barizey and neighboring communes, they practice respectful viticulture without herbicides, leaving part of the vines grassed to encourage biodiversity. Harvesting and sorting are carried out by hand. The domaine produces Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Aligoté wines from appellations including Mercurey, Rully, Givry, Montagny, Bourgogne, and Bourgogne Aligoté. Winemaking combines Burgundian tradition with gentle, careful handling and experimentation with oak barrels and egg-shaped tanks to preserve freshness, fruit purity, and aromatic complexity. The resulting wines are described as balanced, elegant, generous, and long on the palate, with ripe tannins. Visits and tastings are available by appointment.
