Founded in 2003 by a group of friends, Zonte’s Footstep is an independent McLaren Vale producer owned and operated by its founders. Working from The General Wine Bar in McLaren Flat, the winery draws on vineyards across South Australia, including McLaren Vale, Langhorne Creek, Adelaide Hills and Barossa, with both own and partner-grown fruit. Its approach is low-intervention and terroir-focused, aiming to let the fruit show clearly in wines that express each site. Avalon Tree vineyard, for example, is planted on own-rooted vines in maritime red sands over ancient limestone on an alluvial plain. The portfolio spans multiple styles and is presented with distinctive, creative names and labels.
