Viña Maquis is a Hurtado family-owned estate in Chile’s central Colchagua Valley, held by the family since 1916. Its vineyards lie between Chimbarongo Creek and the Tinguiririca River, on deep alluvial soils with substantial clay, and are managed with low irrigation and limited yields. The modern winery, built in 2002, uses gravity flow and emphasizes artisanal, terroir-driven, single-vineyard estate wines, with hands-on techniques and limited mechanization. The estate is particularly noted for Cabernet Franc. Sustainability is central to the operation: it was among the first Chilean producers to obtain sustainability certification and uses biological corridors, sheep for weed control and soil fertility, and energy-recovery systems that reduce electricity and liquefied-gas consumption. Winemaking involves Xavier Choné, Eric Boissenot, Ricardo Rivadeneira Hurtado, and Rodrigo Romero.
