Founded in 1955, Adega de Borba was the Alentejo’s first winery of its kind and has more than 70 years of history. Today, Quintas de Borba operates as a cooperative involving 300 associated grape growers farming approximately 2,000 hectares, predominantly planted to red varieties. Its approach emphasizes cooperation, vineyard-to-bottle quality control, traceability, and GIS-based records documenting individual vineyard parcels and their characteristics. Wines are produced for both domestic and international markets, with exports reaching 35 countries. No specific sustainability certification, individual ownership details, or winemaker names are reported.
