Italy

Mongarda is a family-run producer in Col San Martino, in Veneto’s Conegliano-Valdobbiadene Prosecco DOCG area, founded by Bruno Tormena and Marinella Fanti and now led by their son Martino as primary winemaker. The estate works steep hillside vineyards with old vines on thin limestone-rich and calcareous soils, growing Glera alongside traditional local varieties including Perera, Verdiso, Bianchetta and Boschera. Farming is organic and biodynamic in approach, with no herbicides or chemical fertilizers, using green manure and self-produced compost to preserve soil fertility. Harvesting is manual, parcels are managed and picked separately, and cellar work is deliberately low-intervention, with indigenous yeasts, spontaneous fermentations, whole-cluster pressing and low sulphur. Mongarda focuses on expressing the differences of site, soil, exposure and vine age through characterful Prosecco Superiore, col fondo and metodo classico wines.
