Domaine Saint Etienne, in the Gard department of Southern France, is part of the Michel Chapoutier family estate. Its certified organic, biodynamic and sustainable vineyard lies on the north-eastern edge of the Costières de Nîmes appellation, on a Villafranchian terrace of pebbly, silt-covered soils with deeper clay that helps retain water. The domaine’s wines, including Costières de Nîmes and Côtes du Rhône, are made with indigenous yeasts in concrete vats and careful handling, reflecting a philosophy of respecting nature and expressing the character of the terroir.
