Based in Santenay, Philippe Le Hardi is a historic Burgundy estate whose roots are tied to the Dukes of Burgundy and Philippe le Hardi’s 1395 decree favoring Pinot Noir. Now owned by private investors under Crédit Agricole, the property has been extensively renewed, including a new cuverie and a broader relaunch of the domaine. Its vineyards span the Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune and Côte Chalonnaise, with many individual plots vinified separately for more tailored, site-specific wines. The estate is certified organic by Ecocert and also holds Terra Vitis, HEV 3 and other sustainability certifications, reflecting a long environmental focus on soil health and biodiversity. Cellar master François des Moutis favors gentle extraction and restrained use of new oak.
