Château LE COTEAU

France

Château Le Coteau is a small, family-owned estate in Margaux, held by the Léglise family for six generations and overseen by Eric Léglise. Since taking over in the early 1990s, Eric has pursued environmentally respectful viticulture without herbicides or insecticides, using indigenous cover crops, compost, shallow soil work and measures to preserve surrounding ecosystems. The vineyard supports rich biodiversity, including nearly 200 recorded bee species, and the estate holds Ecocert biodynamic certification and an HEV 4 rating. Manual harvesting and traditional, gentle winemaking aim to express Margaux’s terroir. The Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant wines are described as fine and elegant, with controlled barrel ageing adding complexity and depth.
