Chateau de la Riviere

France

Château de La Rivière is a historic Fronsac estate overlooking the Dordogne valley, centered on a 16th-century château and extensive 19th-century underground cellars. Its clay-limestone plateaus and slopes produce red Fronsac wines alongside Bordeaux white and rosé. The property combines wine production with cellar visits, tastings, accommodation and the annual Confluent d’Arts festival. The estate emphasizes environmental stewardship through woodland, grassland, hedges and ditches, and holds High Environmental Value, ISO 14001, Bordeaux Cultivons Demain and Natura 2000-related credentials. Directed by Xavier Buffo, the team has pursued qualitative improvement for more than 20 years while respecting the estate’s natural surroundings. Ownership has changed several times, most recently with its 2025 acquisition by Global Food Investments.
