Cantine di Marzo

Italy

Cantine di Marzo is a historic family-owned winery in Tufo, Irpinia, operating since 1647 and still directed by 16th-generation family member Ferrante di Somma. Its vineyards are farmed under SQNPI-certified sustainable integrated practices, with estate-grown Greco, Aglianico, and Fiano. Winemaking and storage take place in medieval rock-cut tunnels beneath the family palazzo, combining preserved historic surroundings with modern equipment. Known for its close association with Greco di Tufo, the estate produces DOCG Greco di Tufo—including zoned Riserva wines developed with winemaker Vincenzo Mercurio—as well as Fiano di Avellino, Taurasi, Aglianico, and traditional-method sparkling wines. Its wines reflect the calcareous-clay soils over tufaceous rock and a long commitment to expressing individual vineyard character.
