Campo Alla Sughera

Italy

Campo Alla Sughera is a family-owned estate founded in 1998 by Isabel and Frederick Knauf in Bolgheri, Tuscany. With 16.5–25 hectares of vineyards, the winery practices sustainable viticulture to enhance biodiversity and soil health, though it holds no formal certifications. The estate is meticulously divided into small plots and micro-terroirs, employing high-density planting and gravity-fed winemaking in its three-level cellar. Under director Tommaso Alessandri, with winemaker Francesco Gagliardi and consultant Stéphane Derenoncourt, production remains modest, including limited editions like Anima d’Arnione at just 1,000 bottles annually. The focus is on expressing Bolgheri’s unique terroir through separate vinification of each parcel and tailored aging.
