Family-owned since 1872, Weingut Anton Nothnagl is based in Spitz in the Wachau, where Anton Nothnagl and his son Christian run the estate. The winery focuses on Grüner Veltliner and Riesling, including single-vineyard wines from sites such as Setzberg, Burgberg, Steinporz, Kalkofen and Axpoint, alongside Chardonnay, Gelber Muskateller and Sauvignon Blanc. Its wines include the classic Wachau categories Federspiel and Smaragd. The family emphasizes traditional viticulture and terroir expression on steep, terraced primary-rock soils, combining this with precise cellar work: wines are fermented and stored in stainless steel, and spontaneous fermentation is used. Since 2007, bottling has been exclusively under screw cap.
