Producer

Pyramid Valley

New Zealand

Pyramid Valley is a North Canterbury producer based at the Waikari Estate, founded in 2000 by Mike and Claudia Weersing. The estate is rooted in organic and biodynamic farming, with limestone- and clay-rich soils and vineyard blocks named for the dominant meadow botanicals. Its approach is natural and low-intervention, with hand-based viticulture, low yields, ungrafted vines, long fermentations with estate-grown yeast, no added sulphur, and unfiltered bottling. The range is organized into three collections—Botanicals, Pastures, and Colours—reflecting a strong terroir focus and nature-first philosophy. Notes also indicate the winery later came under the ownership of Steve Smith MW and Brian Sheth, while maintaining its biodynamic, non-interventionist direction.
