Fatalone is the family-run Petrera estate in Gioia del Colle, Puglia, led by Pasquale Petrera. Rooted in a historic family tradition, it was the first to bottle Gioia del Colle Primitivo as a single-variety wine in 1987 and has helped champion the local DOC. The estate farms native Primitivo and Greco on rocky clay-limestone Murgia soils, with certified organic and biodynamic, dry-farmed vineyards worked largely by hand. In the cellar, the approach is artisanal and low-intervention: hand-picked fruit, spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, natural malolactic fermentation, unfiltered wines and low sulphites. Fatalone also emphasizes full sustainability, with solar-powered production and a strong Slow Wine philosophy focused on authentic, territorial expression.
