Château Saint-Pey

France

Château Saint-Pey is a Saint-Émilion-area estate in Saint-Pey d’Armens, cultivated for approximately two centuries and owned by the Musset family for six generations. Since 2011, Frédéric Stévenin has operated it as the starting point and experimental base for his family group’s Right Bank properties. Its vineyard is planted mainly to Merlot with Cabernet Franc on sandy, clay and gravelly soils, including deep clay near the Saint-Émilion hillside. Vineyard manager Anthony Appollot introduced drone-assisted, targeted spraying in 2018 to limit organic treatments. The cellar combines optical sorting with a technical, non-technological approach, while trials in foudres, amphorae and concrete explore different varieties and parcels. The estate produces Bordeaux Supérieur, Entre-Deux-Mers and Saint-Émilion Grand Cru.
