Producer

Berretta

Italy

Berretta is situated near Porrona in Cinigiano, in Tuscany’s Alta Maremma, where maritime breezes, marked temperature variation and well-drained soils shape its wines. The estate began producing here around ten years ago with Sangiovese and Cabernet vineyards. Its organically farmed, though uncertified, vines are dry-farmed and hand-harvested. Wines are matured in French oak barrels and tonneaux, developing greater balance and aromatic complexity. The producer describes its wines as powerful yet supple, with red-fruit character, freshness and concentration. Notes also identify a separate producer, Cantina del Morellino, a family-owned cooperative of 170 grower families overseen by winemaker Paolo Caciorgna.
