Weingut Münzberg

Germany

Family-owned Weingut Münzberg is based in Godramstein in the Pfalz, where the Kessler family has cultivated vines since Jakob Kessler acquired a vineyard there in the late 19th century. A VDP member since 2000, the estate focuses on Burgundy varieties—especially Weißburgunder, Spätburgunder, Grauburgunder and Chardonnay—grown on calcareous marl, stony and loess-clay soils. The vineyards have been organically farmed since 2023, with BIO certification and FairChoice sustainability certification. Wines range from VDP Gutsweine to Erste Lage and Grosse Lage, including top parcels in the heart of the Münzberg. The cellar follows a minimally interventionist approach: whites are primarily matured in steel, while reds and Chardonnays age in wood, including Palatinate oak barriques. Gunter, Friedrich and Nico Kessler continue the family’s Burgunder-focused craft.
