Weingut Josef Leitz

Germany

Family-owned Rheingau winery Leitz is run by Johannes Leitz, with his son Antonius also involved in the next generation. Focused on Riesling, the estate produces traditional wines, Sekt, Pinot Noir rosé and the pioneering Eins Zwei Zero range of non-alcoholic wines. Its vineyards include steep Rüdesheim sites with varied soils and are farmed with an emphasis on soil fertility, biodiversity, gentle cultivation and reduced chemical use; the estate is Fair’N Green certified. In the cellar, traditional craftsmanship is combined with modern technology, while non-alcoholic wines are made using patented vacuum distillation at around 29°C to preserve aromatic character. Leitz also works to restore traditional terrace vineyards and produces its base wines with the same care as its estate wines.
