Stift Göttweig

Austria

Stift Göttweig is a historic Kremstal estate with roots reaching back to 1083, long associated with the Benedictine abbey and the wine culture of the region. Since 2006 it has been run by a consortium of wine enthusiasts under the leadership of Fritz Miesbauer, who also serves as winemaker. The estate is a member of ÖTW and farms under Sustainable Austria guidelines. Its focus is on classic, site-expressive wines that make their Kremstal origin clearly tasteable, especially Grüner Veltliner and Riesling. The style is dry, fruit-forward and marked by characteristic spice, shaped by centuries of vineyard knowledge on the Göttweiger Berg.
