Producer

Santa Margherita

Italy

Founded in 1935 by Gaetano Marzotto, Santa Margherita is a family-rooted Veneto producer whose wines come from Eastern Veneto, Conegliano-Valdobbiadene and Alto Adige. It built its reputation on white wines, notably pioneering a modern Pinot Grigio style in 1961 by vinifying without skin contact, and has also been involved in Prosecco since the 1950s. The estate presents itself as an "explorer of taste," combining tradition with innovation while aiming to express local terroirs. Sustainability is a major focus, with organic and “extreme organic” farming, integrated pest management, renewable energy, vegan-friendly winemaking, and carbon-neutral certification for part of its Pinot Grigio. Its agronomists have also tended the historic vineyard at San Francesco della Vigna in Venice since 2019.
