Le Bèrne

Italy

Le Bèrne is a family-owned estate in Cervognano, Montepulciano, acquired by the Natalini family in 1967 and now worked across three generations. Its vineyards lie at 350 metres on the southeastern slope of Montepulciano, divided among five parcels with distinct soils, exposures and microclimates. Sangiovese leads, accompanied by historic local varieties including Mammolo, Canaiolo, Colorino, Malvasia Toscana and Pulcinculo. The family emphasizes careful, sustainable viticulture, avoiding herbicides and synthetic products while using compost and cover crops; no formal certification is held. Winemaking is vineyard-focused and minimally interventionist, with spontaneous fermentation using native yeasts and vinification in steel or concrete according to the wine. Variable maceration and ageing aim for lively, balanced wines expressing the land, family and character of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano.
