LaFou

Spain

Founded in 2007 by Ramon Roqueta Segalés as a personal project, LaFou Celler is based in Batea, in Catalonia’s DO Terra Alta. The winery focuses on expressing Garnacha and the character of its landscape, while also helping recover traditional varieties such as Morenillo and Samsó. Its vineyards occupy limestone-rich valleys and terraces, interplanted with olive and almond trees. Grapes are harvested manually and handled plot by plot; open tanks, grape treading, oak barrels and concrete egg vats combine traditional and contemporary techniques. LaFou operates from Casa Figueras, a carefully restored 18th-century townhouse preserving old mills and fermentation tanks, linking the wines to the area’s longstanding winemaking heritage.
