Domaine La Perrière

France

Domaine de la Perrière is a Sancerre estate in Verdigny-en-Sancerre, in the Loire Valley, owned by the Saget family. Its vineyards span several districts, including a notable single block on flint soils that is particularly suited to Sauvignon Blanc. The domaine is dominated by Sauvignon Blanc, with Pinot Noir planted on clay-limestone sites better suited to supple, generous reds. Vineyard work is carried out with a reasoned, sustainable approach, using soil cultivation and grass cover, with careful canopy management and green harvesting for Pinot Noir. Harvesting is partly by hand for Sauvignon Blanc and fully by hand for Pinot Noir. In the cellar, Sauvignon Blanc sees short cold maceration and lees aging, while Pinot Noir undergoes sorting, a three-week maceration, and barrel aging. The estate is also known for its historic natural cave used for storage and visits.
