Domaine du Valbrun

France

Domaine du Valbrun is a family-run estate in Parnay, within the Saumur-Champigny AOC, where the Charruau family has farmed since 1722. Éric Charruau leads the domaine with his son Léo, who joined in 2021 and farms a 6.5-hectare parcel while overseeing winemaking. The vineyards are certified organic, with grassing between rows, cover crops and surface cultivation used to support soil health and biodiversity. Working across the Loire vineyards between Parnay and Souzay-Champigny, the family seeks to express the complexity of Saumur’s terroirs. Léo’s wines are intended to be lively, with élevage in amphorae, 500-litre oak barrels and raw concrete vats.
